Finding a WWII beach – Punggol Beach

We stumbled on Punggol Beach while searching for Punggol Reservoir or Sungei Punggol which is located to the northern part of Singapore, about 20km away from the city center in the south. It wasn’t a long drive, it only took us about 20+ minute to reach the beach. I was in total excitement to find something that is so remote and unlike the city regions of Singapore.

I took about 15mins to finish the sketch. The scene wasn’t that great. From here we could see the neighboring country, Malaysia and the oil refinery built along their shoreline. Despite the eyesore, I was greeted with some magnificent display of clouds and sunset. I was glad I did not miss the golden hour.

The beach wasn’t crowded but the jetty was strewed with anglers hoping to get a good catch. I was excited to see such a remote place still untouched by urban development. Will definitely come again to chill.
