Following the Filming

I absolutely love drawing commercial shoots. It’s like watching grownups playing make-believe. I get tons of interesting looking models, made up and costumed in fun sets. Plus there is that added bonus of all the machinery: the knots and bolts, wires, lights, rails, tripods,(loads and loads of visual yumminess for myself.)

I love how being ‘behind-the-scenes’ plays with my perception of reality. I’m drawing people that are hot, bored and tired pretending to be fresh and vivacious. It’s like watching a little portion of life being created and recreated for a short time, and then its time to pack up and leave. The actors get sent home, the lights and sets are dismounted, packed in trucks and suddenly its over.
