Rainy days are here to stay

It’s been too wet and windy for the past few days to continue my festival sketchbook in town. Instead I brought out a new size A4 watercolour sketchbook and put in some practise using the medium. I did an ink drawing a little while ago looking through a doorway in my home, and wanted to try a similar composition in watercolour.

I wanted a view through successive doorways, so this is looking from my livingroom, via the hall, towards the kitchen.

I made the doorways more squat (they’re very narrow) to give myself more space to play around. Not sure whether I should just have left the front plane white and only used colour on the part framed within the opening of the door.

What do you turn to when the weather is too wet to sketch out of doors?
