My Lisbon Sketchbook in full

Open publication – Free publishingMore sketches

Ok… here it is – my Lisbon Sketchbook in full. It includes the 3 days of the symposium and a few days either side. Having a few problems with the link so if you can’t get to the issuu publication click here

My main aim in my travel sketchbooks is NOT to produce perfect sketch after perfect sketch but to tell the story of my adventures and capture ‘the moment’ which (somewhat tragically!?!) is resulting in me trying to sketch everything I do! This year I was experimenting with including more collage and make more of an effort to include maps and lots of notes. A lot of this has been done after the event and I do wish I had left a few blank pages as some pages are now a little crowded. – but in a way those pages convey something of the intensity of the symposium and what I was trying to do!

I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making the symposium such a wonderful success – from the members of the organising committee down to each and every volunteer that helped out. Thanks beyond words!

I would also like to follow on from Norberto’s comments earlier this week. Being part of urban sketchers online community has been the most wonderful encouragement to experiment, develop, learn and motivation to get outside sketching. Through this blog and flickr etc we have discovered many inspirational works of art and started many friendships. BUT meeting the person behind the sketches, and being able to flick through the pages of their sketchbooks is such a more rewarding experience…instead of being amazed at an individual image on screen you get to see and appreciate the person behind a whole body of work….and that is just SO special! I just wish that I could have meet everyone there and had a chance to look through their work!

Here is every page in a single image too – if you prefer to look at that- click to go to flickr to view larger.
