Merry Christmas folks! Above is the Christmas Tree in downtown Davis, California, sketched on a bright cold lunchtime last week. I have had a nice Christmas so far, with lots of food and fun family times. I drew a fun advent calendar for my son. December has been very busy, and I’ve had less time to draw than usual, but I currently have a show of recent urban sketches on display at the Pence Gallery in Davis which has been going very well (still on display until December 30!). I did have time to go to a local farm and chop down (well, saw down) a Christmas tree a couple of weeks ago, the first time I’ve ever done that, and a new tradition for us. I felt very manly carrying the tree over my shoulder, freshly chopped, but no I didn’t sing the Lumberjack Song. It’s all decorated and festive now in the corner of our apartment’s living room, and late on Christmas eve, once all wrapping had been done, I sat on the beanbag and sketched it, below. I love Christmas time!
