Trendy Cafe ‘Sculpturing in Time’

‘Sculpturing in Time’ or ‘雕刻时光’ is one of the trendy cafe in ChaoYang District, JiangTai road, beijing. www.sitcoffee.com The first cafe opened on 28th Nov. 1997 in a small space in a hutong (back lane) along ChengFu road near the Beijing University. It use to be a place where the students will meet up and have cheap affordable coffee and tea and after school social life. Now it has becomes a fully equipped cafe with free Wi-Fi, ‘Illy’ coffee, many choice of wines, tea, desserts and various types of western food.

The sketch I drew was the main dining area on a sunday afternoon. It was a great day with clear cloudless blue sky after a week long of terrible dusty winds. Lots of people was sitting near the large windows at the entrance way enjoying the sun shining into the cafe. I did another quick sketch of a couple quiety seated on a high bench with the guy busy with his laptop and his girl friend browsing through the cafe magazines collection.
