I’ll admit it: I’m such a tourist. I go to Seattle and all I seem to draw is the Space needle. I don’t mean to draw it all the time, but everywhere I look it’s on the horizon and just seems to worm it’s way into my sketches. I have to admit, I’m fascinated by it, especially by how strange and space-age it must have looked 50 years ago when it was built.
So here are my Space Needles.
I wish I could draw the Needle slowly, one fin at a time, and every details of it, but I just can’t… to me it’s a mushrooming, growing, spinning structure and I just have to draw it like that.
One last sketch of the skyline, drawn from our ship as we set sail for Alaska (more on that soon!)
More of my Space Needle sketches on my blog and all my Seattle sketches here on flickr.
