Tate Modern and the Millenium Bridge

I’ve sketched this view many a time – the other way round. I often sit in the Friends Room at Tate Modern or at the window seats in the the restaurant on level 6 – and sketch the huge view of St Paul’s and the City.  However this was the first time ever that I had taken my sketchbook down to the seats on the Thames Path – to the west of the Millenium Bridge over the River Thames – and sketched Tate Modern.

Ir was also a different angle from the one I’m used to for sketching the Millennium Bridge.  Usually I’m up above looking down.  This time I was below rather than above – and I still don’t think I’ve got the structure quite right.  Mind you that’s what I usually think every time I sketch the Millennium Bridge! In fact I think sketching the Millennium Bridge should be a mandatory challenge for any urban sketcher who comes to London!

Two views across the Millennium Bridge & ‘Tales from the Bridge’ Soundscape is my blog post about this sketch on my blog Travels with a Sketchbook.

You can also see the view the other way round which I did later in the day!
