For 37th Worldwide Sketchcrawl, Los Angeles group gathered at Ports O’ Call in San Pedro. We had teachers and art students with us, including
young urban sketchers from Ánimo Venice High School.
It’s wonderful to see students getting into sketching early in
their artistic journey. I enjoyed the energy of the group. It was a fun,
sketch-filled day!
San Pedro is an area on the southernmost edge of the City of Los Angeles, facing the water. This is one of the busiest working harbors on the Pacific coast. How
often do you get to see a battleship, a cruise ship, and a cargo ship
docked next to each other?! (Granted, the battleship USS Iowa is retired
from active duty and is now a maritime museum.)

Some of us walked over to nearby Crafted indoor market afterwards. For a “bonus” sketch of fashionably quirky people there, you can visit my blog post.
