Big green dome

St. Joseph’s Oratory is perhaps Montreal’s most famous landmark and it often appears somewhere in my sketches, very tiny, because I am never in the vicinity to sketch it up close. Today I was on my way home from a rather unpleasant appointment at the dentist and suddenly, there it was, looking very dramatic, with some dark sky behind it. I pulled into a vacant parking spot —hard to find these days after several snowfalls with much of the city unplowed —and sketched it. Helped me to forget the dentist.
