Yosemite park

Yosemite falls

Mariposa Grove

I read about the problems with the fires in the Yosemite National park. As it happened we visited Yosemite a few weeks ago, during our trip around western USA. We went to the tourist center, Yosemite falls.

It’s a fantastic park, impressive by the huge rocks looming over the valley, but never as intimidating as for example Grand Canyon. And with crisp air, so much better than the valley we left behind at Modesto.

I made a drawing of the plunge pool, where the 700m (2400 feet) Yosemite fall ends. Due to the draught it was only a trickling stream.

Also a drawing of the California Tunnel Tree, a passage through a 60 meter high Giant Sequoia tree at Mariposa Grove.

I really hope the fires can be stopped, it would be a terrible shame if this beautiful park would be burned down.

We saw wildfires on the hills of Palm Springs a few days later, and we know now how disturbing it is to see those approaching.
