A few sketches from our visit to Papamoa Beach in the Bay of Plenty for Christmas. It’s a place that’s become increasingly urbanised over the last decade or so. Growing up there we had several ‘dairys’ (small convenience stores), a small country school, a petrol pump and not much more, now there are several shopping malls, 3 or 4 new schools, skateboard parks, you name it. Once you take the walk over the sand dunes to the beach though, it’s just a nice and pristine as it ever was. Always good to head ‘home’ and spend a few days at the beach.

The view to Mount Maunganui, Karewa and Mayor islands and the Coromandel Peninsular in the distance…
