Sketching Norway in dark December

The first day in Norway, I realized I had left my Icelandic fingerless gloves at home. In all of Bergen, there was ONE pair for sale and I nabbed them! Here they are, warm and toasty (all things considered) as can be.

They made it possible for me to sketch this powerful wooden sculpture of a King Cod… I thought it was the prow of a ship from the Hanseatic League days, but no. It was made by a contemporary Italian sculptor and installed a couple of years ago.

Another large sculpture (also by an Italian artist, Monica Bonvicini) seemingly floats (it’s really tethered in place) in the fjord outside of the Oslo Opera House.

When you travel north of the Arctic Circle in December, you end up making lots of interior sketches ;D. Here are some:
