Floralis Generica

The Generic Floralis is a metal sculpture located in the Plaza of the United Nations of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires , flattered by Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano .

The sculpture is located in the middle of a park of four acres of wooded boundaries , surrounded by roads offering different perspectives of the monument and placed above a reflecting pool . Represents a large flower made ​​of stainless steel with aluminum skeleton and reinforced concrete, looking toward the sky , reaching toward him six petals. Weighs eighteen tons and is 23 meters high.

One of the features of the flower is an electrical system that automatically opens and closes the petals depending on the time of day . At night the flower closes emanating from inside a red open reborn in the next morning glow. This is the same mechanism that closes the flower to the strong winds occur.

Every morning at 8 opens and closes at sunset , on a schedule that changes with the season.
