Demo 6: Capturing Mood in Watercolor Sketches
Location: TBD

Description
The workshop will begin with a short demonstration based on a picture of Zhu Hong’s phone drawing. The importance of simplicity, vividness and unity of the elements in a painting will be discussed.
The workshop will then continue at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM). Zhu Hong will share his perspective on location drawing, and how he interprets the scene before him. He believes that one should not make an exact copy of the building, but instead interpret it, and use simple shapes and vivid colours to bring out its character.
As you gain new perspectives and technical know-how, you will also have the chance to apply what you have learnt into a drawing of the fire station.
