Some more from my trip to Manchester, UK

[By Kumi Matsukawa in Kanagawa, Japan]

I was privileged to serve as one of Symposium correspondents this year in Manchester.I had great opportunity to work with other wonderful team members (Liz, Tina and Javier) to cover this biggest event. During that period, it was like I was in the buffet to chose whatever I desire to have if I could… So many inspiring people, workshops, activities, lectures, yet so little time to catch up… I only slept 2,3 hours every day… Suffering insomnia is always the case when to participate Symposiums but this time, my duty to make blog post almost on time is new load. I needed to battle against sleepiness, fatigue, and malfunctioning tablet…. I felt as if I had overate and had difficulty digesting…I mean there were so much to absorb!! ( if you missed my post, see here, here, here, and here.

Well, here, these were done one day before the Symposium.

Asuka, from Australia, bravely drove her rented car and we went to a place called Hebden Bridge. We just spent half day there but had real quality time sketching the view. Thanks Asuka for taking me a drive!

(I later donated this sketch to silent auction. later I heard that Joel won the bid)

Over the bridge, we heard someone was singing and the melody was beautiful, so couldn’t resist to find out who he was…

Same day afternoon, Liz took rest of Symposium correspondents to a tour to show the Workshop and Activity locations. On our way, we arrived at Peveril of the Peak where there were full of early comers started sketch gathering. So we joined.

That evening, in the Indian restaurant. It is like a ritual to spread our sketchbooks and have sketch battle.

In the morning of Symposium day, a beautiful day. My very first and last sketch of architecture with strong light and shadow.

Many thanks to those who strived to make this event happen.
