Sharpie 9m2

Two brand new SHARPIE 9m2, side by side, ready to sail.

Later I saw three more and I knew there was a story. I asked and found out that
in Esposende (by the sea on the north of Portugal) someone has got the plans
and started to build them.

SHARPIE 9m2 is a relic. Designed in Paris following a monotype idea it had
a deep spell with the war and the occupation, and it was an olimpic class until
the rise of the Finn class. It will be always connected with the sailing generation of my father and my uncles. I remember them sailing in Cascais.

I also remember a beautiful and perfect wooden model that would make the
joy of the young ones, each time it was allowed to get out of it’s box.

All these memories came to my mind while sitting on the marina finger and sketching the SHARPIE…
