Second Day in London

[T.K. Justin Ng in London] This is my second video of my time in London. Instead of drawing the Barbican centre the way I normally draw, I wanted to try sketching in sectional perspective. To do this, I walked around the area I was drawing so that I can include information beyond what is possible in one view.

When I was leaving, I realized that this development is completely different from anything around it. Just a few minutes later, I was immersed in London’s financial district, surrounded by glass towers. This area included some of my favourite architect’s works but the public spaces around were lacking and there wasn’t really a place for me to draw from.  Even tho I ended up setting up my drawing equipment on a bollard, it was really windy.

Next up, I walked down to the river by the tower bridge. I originally intended on drawing from the bridge but the weather wasn’t suitable for it so I found a cafe underneath the bridge to draw the London skyline.

Let me know if you might be interested in seeing a slower version of this sketch with a tutorial.

I then visited the tower of London, joining in on a guided tour. I later found a beautiful spot in St Thomas’s tower to draw the tower bridge from. I set up my gear in this one thousand-year-old tower and began drawing until the sun began to set.

This week, I want to share with you my drawing of the Turku Castle, one of the oldest buildings in Finland.
