[by Shari Blaukopf in Montreal, Canada] Spring has finally sprung in Montreal, and with that, outdoor sketching season. I don’t mean sketching in my car, I mean standing in the sun, with bugs landing in your palette and wind turning the pages of your sketchbook. A real joy to experience after a long, cold winter that never seemed to end.

In my excitement to experience the joys of the great outdoors, I’ve sketched one of everything. One street scene in Lachine, on a day when the whole town seemed to be out walking…

One water scene just before the boats went in the water…

One crosswalk just after someone tried to run me over as I crossed it…

One farm scene with a vehicle that I couldn’t identify but that was probably some sort of sprayer…

One boat scene after the sailboats went in the water…

And finally one boatyard just before several cars parked in front of my easel and blocked my view.
But no matter the distractions, the bugs, the sun and the wind, there is no deterrent to keep me from loving the spring sketching season in Montreal.
