Sketching in Yerevan

My name is Victoria Sevastyanova, I am an artist and a member of the USK Saint Petersburg group. I have lived in Yerevan, Armenia, for the past 2023. As a sketcher, it was an interesting experience for me to draw new shapes, textures and elements. I even tried to understand the Armenian language and convey its amazing symbols by signing works, addresses and places.

For my sketches, I chose a panoramic sketchbook with thin smooth pages from Talens, liners, watercolor and watercolor pencils. At first, my sketches were quite restrained, large monochrome, but closer to summer I began to draw with a flourish, boldly including bright colors, especially pink. Peach-pink is generally a special color for Yerevan, as most of it is built of local Tuf stone. It comes in different shades from pinkish-garnet to orange and dark grey006.jpg005.jpg I couldn’t resist and even dyed my hair this shade. Armenia definitely won my heart and left warm imprints in my memory. And I’m glad that I have a full album of sketches as a memory.
