Fundraising Director Role Description

The Fundraising Director works with the Executive Board to set long term strategies for the promotion of the USk mission through USk’s fundraising and sponsorship partnerships and programs. The Director leads a group of volunteers to ensure that the organization’s mission and brand are expressed clearly through all its fundraising events and sponsoring partnerships, with all allied organizations.

Term: 2 years.

 

General

Assists the Board in developing, managing, and implementing a strategic plan for the organization’s fundraising opportunities and sponsorship relationships within the USk community and with other outside organizations.  Works closely with the Events, Communications, and Education Directors to support and collaborate on fundraising, educational and sponsorship events programming through fiscal and art materials sponsorship.

 

Responsibilities

    • General: Ensures the effective promotion and support of the mission and organization of Urban Sketchers through fundraising and sponsorship partnerships. Represents the fundraising and sponsorship team on the Executive Board. 
  • Team: Leads and guides the team, currently consisting of a Fundraising Coordinator and two Sponsorship Coordinators.
  • Community: Connects the USk community with fundraising opportunities, sponsorship events, media, materials, and information. 
  • Meetings: Attends monthly meetings of the Executive Board on Zoom, plus two in-person meetings each year.
  • Committees
    • Ensures the fundraising and sponsorship team has adequate members to meet the organization’s needs, and identifies committee recommendations that should be presented to the Executive Board. 
    • Works with the Directors to develop events-related fundraising and sponsorship opportunities.
    • Works with the Communications Director to ensure all communication of fundraising and sponsorship events are in keeping with the values, goals and standards of the organisation.
    • Works with the Treasurer to ensure all fundraising efforts coordinate with the overall annual budget.
  • Donors:Identifies funding sources, develops relationships with donors, solicits donations.
  • Sponsors: Maintains and builds long-term relationships with sponsors.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in working successfully with diverse cultural groups and volunteers.
  • Negotiation and sales skills, preferably with some fundraising experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with advanced communication and presenting capabilities.
  • Capacity to develop long-term plans and initiatives based on the USk mission.
  • Minimum one year in a USk leadership role at the chapter or committee level.
  • Participation in or strong familiarity with USk symposiums.
  • Be an active Urban Sketcher.
  • Proficiency in English and one other language is strongly preferred.
