Urban Sketching in Paris

Basilica 2 300kb.jpg

A view of Basilica of Sacre Couer on the top of Montmartre. The highest point in Paris. It’s a long climb with many cafes along the way to ease the journey.

Theatre Montparnasse 1.jpg

After exploring the San Germain neighborhood, I found a cafe with outdoor tables that were perfect for sketching the Montparnasse Theatre and watching local foot traffic.

Paris San Germaine toy store.jpg

Across from our apartment in San Germain is a toy store where kids would linger and check out the latest toys on display in the storefront.

Urban chimneys Paris.jpg

Clustering chimneys together provides easier access for maintenance and chimney sweeps.

Street scene in Arles.jpg

On a side trip to Arles, home of Vincent Van Gogh in 1888, the colorful flowers hanging from the walls of the narrow streets caught my attention.
