The worst part of any great experience, event or trip, is that eventually it will end… but it’s also a way to look forward to new and exciting ones, as well as, more than 3h sleep.
Honestly, the last day of the Symposium brought a touch of nostalgia, the kind that makes one already long for such an experience and kinda wish it would last just a little bit longer.
Don’t let the last day of Symposium fool you, it still packs a punch with some last workshops, sketchwalks, the Big Crit (what a treat for the lucky ones) and of course, the big group photo, the big closing ceremony and… the Reveal of next year’s destination! Check it out in my last video of the Symposium here:
With that feeling, on the last day I wanted to “explore” the one big protagonist of every Symposium, the host city, Toulouse. In addition to the last activities of the day, Toulouse’s sketch-worthy places, facts and discoveries would be enough for a full length documentary. I settled with five of them, and will keep Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s history with the city, the Aerospace industry and tradition, and, especially, the Cassoulet tasting, for fresher times.
Here you have some of my favorite photos of the day:
If you ever considered participating, volunteering, visiting or had any inkling of joining an Urban Sketchers Symposium, don’t think and just book your plane, bus, train, car or pair of shoes to walk asap, you won’t regret it. The rumors are true, the energy, the sharing, the experience is as unique as you may have been told, and more.
In my case, it was a true privilege to try to bring a small fraction of the emotions and experiences I came across, it was a first of many firsts and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. If I had to mention the highlights it’s probably my fellow “Mosqueteros” (aka correspondents) Gaël and Raúl, and our always supportive D’Artagnan-Maria (aka, Communications Director), as well as, the whole organization, the magic volunteers, faculty members and participants who make this event a yearly success that keeps growing and growing.
Gracias amigos for an unforgettable experience, keep sketching and, hasta la fiesta!
