I arrived in portland the day before the symposium, and once out of the train, we went to china town with tia, her husband albert, liz and borromini. I wanted to warm up with an american classic car, and founded this cool cadillac. after a while sketching on the floor front of it, an old […]
Some Symposium Highlights
I posted many more sketches and a decent amount of explanatory text over on the Portland Symposium blog in these three posts: Jason Das Finally Gets Around to Scanning Some of His Symposium Sketches, Struggling with Tanner Springs and The Fields, and Urban Color Games. But if you’d just like to see my favorite sketches […]
portland! day three
The third and final day of the Urban Sketching Symposium came, and everyone was excited and exhausted in equal measure. This day was also the day of the 28th Worldwide Sketchcrawl, so Portland was becoming a cauldron of sketchers. Which is how the world should be. The morning session for me was Urban Architecture, with […]
portland, day two…
Day Two of the Urban Sketching Symposium… the morning saw a great Urban Line session with Lapin down at the Steel Bridge. Portland is the city of bridges. I think we all signed something at the start saying we all had to draw this bridge at least once. It was very therapeutic, one of those […]

Portland Symposium
Just want to put a quick post up on here to thank everyone who participated in the Urban Sketchers Symposium in Portland, especially Gabi Campanario for making it all happen! It was a fabulous event, truly, as Matt Brehm called it, a ‘Woodstock’ of sketching! The drawing above is a quick one I made of […]
