I took part in NaNoDrawMo this month (draw fifty drawings in the month of November) and so I filled a whole Cachet watercolour sketchbook with drawings along one theme: fire hydrants and other metal pipes that come out of the ground. In fact that’s a nice concise title. Most of them were drawn in Davis (with a few from elsewhere) – now I’m such a hydrant obsessive that I spot small variations in hydrants from miles away. It’s amazing how many there are.

The last sketch of all was the UC Davis water tower, biggest and most visible of all the metal pipes sticking out of the ground here. And now I will draw no more of these things for a good long while…
