I am just coming to the end of the most amazing two weeks of my summer holidays staying home and sketching at the rate that I do when I am overseas. My last sketching adventure was to so to a small urban park in the inner city suburb of Paddington. This has been top on my list of places to visit for a number of years so I was very please when my sketching buddies Wendy and Annie suggested we visit it.
It is an old water reservoir that has been converted into a sunken garden – with comfortable moveable chairs (perfect for urban sketching!). Amazing spaces and views and a truly wonderful insertion of new objects by local architects Tonkin Zulaikha Greer and landscape architects JMD Design. It was remarkably quiet which is quite incredible considering the business of Oxford St and the usual Saturday markets just up the road. I did three sketches but certainly plan to re-visit to sketch some more.

I almost forgot… Happy New Year to everyone!!! I look forward to another year of inspirational sketches on this site.
I saw the old year out by looking through my 2011 sketchbooks… All 20 of them… And as a result determined that one of my goals for 2012 is to slow down a little this year (is this possible???)
