Aarhus deer park

The last week of my summer holiday is ending. Most of my holiday was wet and windy, but this last week we had some lovely warm and sunny weather luring us out and about. An afternoon was spent at the local deer park, walking around the open wood of old oak, beech and chestnut trees, and sketching in the shade of a large beech.

It was a beautiful day. The does were all either fit to burst or already
nursing young kids. The males were busy growing their antlers – in a
couple of months there will be fighting.

My holiday is coming to an end, but hopefully the summer isn’t quite done yet. I still have half my large A4 size watercolour sketchbook to fill, one I got especially for the summer. Do you keep a sketchbook journal when on holiday?
