Meet the Auckland Symposium Local Correspondent Tony McNeight from Auckland, New Zealand.
We are excited to announce our Local Urban sketching correspondent who will work with the team of correspondents to document the daily happenings at the symposium. As a native Aucklander he would be a proud and knowledgeable ambassador in the role. He is intimately aquatinted with the physical areas that USK Symposium will be situated within.
The work of the sketching correspondent is very demanding as they have to be in several places at once. When the activities of the symposium are over and everybody gets to relax and digest their day, sketching correspondents have to rush to their computers to scan their drawings and write a summary of the day in sketches.
Here are a few words from Tony himself:
“This being my first symposium, it’s a great privilege to be the Kiwi correspondent working as a ‘local’ guide alongside the other two international correspondents.
I see this as a fantastic opportunity to meet the international community of sketchers and tutors in my hometown. My creative journey has taken me from a career as an artist in advertising to working on large scale art projects and public installations in New Zealand and France, to owning my own travel sketch business Erin Hill Sketching NZ.
Being an Auckland based travel sketch tutor I have been teaching travel sketching to Kiwis and taking sketch tours overseas. I am well practiced at sketching spontaneous situations and people on the move and look forward to honing my skills further during the symposium. Sketching and teaching reignites people with their own creativity, and I look forward to capturing your moments as you discover beautiful Auckland.”
