Every Urban Sketchers event begins with a sketchbook but what makes our community special isn’t just what we draw. It’s how we treat one another.
Whether you’re joining your very first sketchwalk or attending your tenth Urban Sketchers Symposium, we all play a part in creating an environment where everyone feels welcome, respected, and safe.
That’s why Urban Sketchers has a Code of Conduct.
More than a set of guidelines, it’s a reflection of the values that have shaped our global community from the very beginning: kindness, inclusion, respect, and a shared love of drawing the world around us.
The Code of Conduct helps ensure that every participant, volunteer, instructor, organizer, and staff member can enjoy events in a positive and supportive atmosphere. It also outlines the expectations we share as a community and the steps we’ll take to address concerns if they arise.
This year’s Symposium marks the introduction of the Urban Sketchers Code of Conduct as part of our event experience.
Throughout the Symposium, you’ll see flyers with QR codes displayed around the venue. These QR codes link directly to a confidential reporting form that participants can use if they experience or witness behavior that may violate the Code of Conduct.
Reports will be reviewed by the Response Team. The team will evaluate the information provided and determine appropriate next steps. The timeline for review may vary depending on the nature and complexity of the concern.
We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to read the Code of Conduct before attending the Symposium or any Urban Sketchers event:

A welcoming community doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because each of us helps create it, one sketch, one conversation, and one act of kindness at a time.
Thank you for helping make Urban Sketchers a place where everyone belongs.
